For forty years and running, Ralph Lauren has been the standard of American Style. This season, for Fall 2008, he showed his best collection in recent years and proved why Ralph is still the king.

That fate full Friday back in February, Ralph collaborated with British Hat designer Philip Treacy and showed us a collection that consisted of effortless style and classically beautiful clothes. The show was reminiscent of an American Hunting lodge with 3 enormous chandeliers with arms resembling moose antlers hanging from the ceiling.

The couture techniques were amazing as Ralph finally embraces evening with a series of beautifully embroidered silk gowns and languid, velvet pieces that touched upon Victorian. This was a fearless collection by Ralph, and after last seasons Blockbuster anniversary event it seemed impossible for Lauren to top. That he did, making Ralph Lauren untouchable in the world of American fashion and effortless style. An Oscar worthy finale to a rather blah New York Fashion Week.
